摘要:As mentioned above, the anxiety level plays an important role in one’s foreignlanguage learning process. Compared with the commonly-used traditional teachingmethod, more effective instructional ways to alleviate the students’ foreign languageanxiety is worth exploring.
Chapter Four Results and Discussion
4.1 The Students’ Alleviated Anxiety in English Classroom
As is shown in Table 4.1, the mean of the experimental class is 87.83. The meanof the control class is 88.13, which is only about 0.3 points higher than theexperimental class. There’s nearly no difference between the two classes. So we candraw the conclusion that, before the experiment, the two classes’ English classroomanxiety is on the same level. An independent samples t-test is conducted to further compare the mean scoresin the pre-test. From the independent sample t-test in Table 4.2, we can see Sig.is .370. The value is higher than .05. It indicates that the variances of the students’English classroom anxiety in both the experimental class and the control class areequal. In this condition, we will consider Sig. (2-tailed) in the first row. Sig. (2-tailed)is .924, which is higher than .05. It shows that there’s no significant differencebetween the students’ anxiety level in the two classes.

Conclusion
Anchored instruction can alleviate the students’ anxiety in English classroom.The experiment are conducted in two classes. They are major in preschool education.All of them are girls. During the experiment, the students will be taught by the sameteacher with the same textbook. They have the same class hours (four-hours per week),and will be tested by the same examination papers. The only difference is theinstructional method. The teacher adopts traditional teaching method in the controlclass, and employs anchored instruction in the experimental class. After a semester’sexperiment, the students’ foreign language anxiety in the experimental class decreasesfrom 87.83 to 80.28. Their anxiety level has been alleviated a lot by comparing withthe statistics before the experiment. And the anxiety level of the experimental class isobviously lower than that of the control class. It proves that the anchored instructionis effective in alleviating the students’ foreign language anxiety level.
