摘要:本文是英语词汇学论文,本文基于候易(2000)的词汇衔接的分类和错误分析理论来研究大学英语专业学生(以二年级为例)各项词汇衔接手段的使用情况及其偏误。
the nine lexical cohesive devices, the most frequent lexical cohesive devices used in college English majors’ argumentative writings are simple lexical repetition, substitution, complex lexical repetition and simple mutual paraphrase respectively, during which simple lexical repetition accounts for 71.63%, followed by substitution (9.77%), complex lexical repetition (6.83%), and simple mutual paraphrase (5.60%); while the less are, in order, simple partial paraphrase, co-reference, ellipsis, other complex paraphrase, antonymous complex repetition among which simple partial paraphrase and co-reference represents 0.76% respectively, ellipsis 0.85%, other complex paraphrase 1.14%, antonymous complex paraphrase 2.66%. Apparently, the students give priority to the use of simple lexical repetition in that the repetition of lexical items without greater change is the most effortless and straightforward methods in writings, however, the utilization of antonymous complex repetition and other three less frequent devices apart from ellipsis have a higher demand for students’ vocabulary and hence, they may be inclined to use less. With regard to ellipsis, it seldom appears in written English especially in the formal texts.

conclusion
There are some limitations in the study on account of the sample size, research time and the researchers’ capability. In this study, the researcher selects thirty samples from corpus, conducts a small-scale study on lexical cohesion and some types of errors may be not found, which probably leads to lack of the generality for the research results. Moreover, the literary form of the study is argumentation and thus, it remains to be studied further whether the research results are appropriate for other types of literary forms. The writer carries out the work with two postgraduates majoring in foreign linguistics and applied linguistics in order that the disagreement can be discussed and then reached during the process; nevertheless, the native speakers do not participate in the tagging work and meanwhile, there are some subjective factors impacting the results of data collection.
