摘要:本文是英语阅读论文,通过实验结果分析,得出如下结论:基于多元智能的英语阅读教学更有效地增强了学生的英语学习动机,提高了学生的英语阅读水平。它在运用过程中仍然存在着诸多局限,因此,日后在使用这一理论指导英语阅读教学时需要更多的努力。
application can not be used in my own experiment. Therefore, the author carries out the research on application of MI theory to English reading in Pan Shan Senior High School. The aims of the research are to explore whether the application of MI theory can increase students’ motivation or not, and testify whether the application of MI theory can improve students’ reading proficiency or not. Theoretically, MI theory is helpful to change teachers’teaching view. The pattern of traditional teaching is teacher-oriented and students always do a great number of exercises, but every individual is different, therefore the teaching method should be transformed according to subjects and teaching content. Beside, MI theory have had a profound impact since it appeared, and there are some MI theory works that are about the application of MI theory to English teaching. However, the number of works that are about the application of MI theory to construct multiple English reading classroom activities is less. Naturally, the thesis is a supplement for MI theory from the aspect of English reading teaching in senior high school. Practically, the author expects to achieve the following goals through English teaching in this term. Under the instruction of MI theory, the English reading classroom is filled with multiple teaching activities and methods, and students’ reading motivation is increased, consequently their reading proficiency is improved.

Chapter Two Literature review
In this chapter, the author reviews relevant items from five parts. At first, MI theory introduction is detailed. And then, studies on reading and motivation are presented, in addition, studies of MI theory applied in English reading teaching abroad and at home are introduced. At last, there is a summary for this chapter.
2.1 MI theory introduction
The definition of intelligence is developed and improved all the time, at the same time, many scholars make relevant researches in order to explore the intelligence structure and more and more experts realize that intelligence is composed of kinds of elements.In 1983, American famous psychologist and educator, Gardner (1983), published his book Frames of Mind. In the book, he proposes the basic structure of MI theory for the first time, and Gardner believes that various intelligences exist independently in individual. As far as he is concerned, intelligence is multiple.
