Chapter V Results and Discussion


5.1 Investigation on English Assignment
Before the research, the author needs to make a survey on the present English assignment,including the amount and style of assignment. By making questionnaires and interviews, theauthor found out the advantages and disadvantages of the current English Assignment.According to the results of the questionnaires and interviews, the author stresses the interactiveEnglish assignment which is helpful for the students who are leaning English. At the end of theresearch, the author designs the Interactive English Assignment. In order to confirm it, theauthor assigned the pro-test and post-test, whose aim is to test the function of the interactiveEnglish Assignment. In the questionnaires, the questions are divided into two kinds ofcategories, including students’ and teachers’ opinions.

Conclusion


As we all know, English assignment plays an important part in the English learning. Mostteachers hold the view that the English assignment is considered as the tools to check the effectsof the teachers’ teaching and the efforts the students made in learning English. Therefore, theteachers should offer students typical English assignment; however, most of the current Englishassignments are the traditional ones, which can’t meet the demands of the students. In order tosettle the problems, the author states the interactive English assignment, the aims of thisassignment are to improve the students’ abilities (reading, speaking, listening and writing), topromote the students’ social skills( communication, cooperation, team spirits).In the research, the author firstly makes two questionnaires to 10 teachers and 120 studentsin No.9 Qingdao High school in Shandong Province, then the author interviews some teachersand students to collect the information about the current English assignment. The data of thequestionnaires and interviews are analyzed. Based on the analyzed data, the author chooses twoclasses who have a lot in common in learning English. Through the compartment of thecontrolled class and the experimental class, the author realizes that the result of the two classesproves that the interactive English assignment is effective for helping the students to improvetheir abilities and promote their social skills. What’s more, in this research the author statessome suggestions which help the teachers to design their interactive English assignment.
