4.1.1 Detailed Description of the Result from Classroom Observations
This section analyses reading lessons of six English teachers with three from senior Grade one and three from senior Grade two.
The lessons for Grade one are from unit 1 Friendship in New Senior English for China Student’ s Book 1, published by People’s Education. The reading text Anne’s Best Friend is about how Anne, who lived during the Second World War, longed for friends and an account for her life and feelings during the two years before her death.
The lessons for Grade two are from unit 2 Working the land in New Senior English for China Student’ s Book 4 published by People’s Education. The reading text A Pioneer for All People mainly talks about the famous Chinese agricultural scientist Yuan Longping and his great contributions.
The followings are the detailed description of the analysis of the classroom observations. The activities in pre-reading, while-reading, post-reading and homework will be mainly observed. Then the author will analyze whether these activities reflect the cultivation of key competencies or not.

5.1 Major Findings
Based on classroom observations, questionnaires and interviews, the major findings of the study are as follows:
(1) Current situation of the implementation of English subject key competenciet.
From the survey data, it can be known that teachers have implemented the English key competencies in English reading class, but the implementation is not enough.
