thesis. Teaching design is an important branch of pedagogy. In our country, it is a secondary discipline of education and a professional direction to education technology. The literature review for instructional designs research status at home and abroad is the basis of the existing problems in the design of teaching objectives and strategies of English teachers' teaching in junior high school. This chapter mainly reviews instructional designs, teaching objectives and strategies at home and abroad.
2.1 Definition of Instructional Design
Teaching design is teachers’ plan of implementing curriculum, which links teachers’ educational concepts with teaching practices. Employing the method of instructional designs could help English teachers select teaching content rationally and scientifically, adopt reasonable teaching strategies, and work out the teaching plans to guide classroom practices smoothly. Under the guidance of Chinese New English Curriculum Standards (NECS), which expresses the educational idea of promoting students’ development and cultivating the spirit of students’ creativity and practical ability, it is necessary for English teachers to find out appropriate ways of instructional designs, for no approach is always adaptable to all language teaching. To do so, the study obeys the following train of thoughts: first, on the foundation of analyzing relevant theories and research fruits at home and abroad, we work to summarize the development process of instructional designs coming from junior high school English teachers, classify the characteristics of each stage. Second, we seek to investigate the current situation of instructional designs made by the improving English teachers of junior high school, find out the existing problems and discover the sticking point. Third, using the theories proposed by experts for reference, combined with the investigation results, we are able to analyze the reasons and put forward workable advice and strategies, as well as exemplifying corresponding targets and principles.
