Mechanism of Action: 
- Cefepime is a bactericidal agent that acts by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. 
- It has a broad spectrum of activity against a wide range of gram-positive and 
- gram-negative bacteria, including most strains resistant to aminoglycosides or 
- 3rd-generation cephalosporins. 
Indication 
- Treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria: Respiratory tract infections, Septicemia. Empiric treatment in febrile neutropenia. 
Contraindication 
- Patients who have had previous hypersensitivity reactions to any component of Cepimax, the cephalosporin class of antibiotics, penicillins or other β-lactam antibiotics. 
Adverse Reaction 
- Cepimax is generally well tolerated. In clinical trials (N=5598), the most common adverse events were gastrointestinal symptoms and hypersensitivity reactions. Adverse events considered to be of definite, probable or possible relationship to Cepimax are listed as follows.

and the development of resistant bacteria
