4 Results and Discussion


4.1Data Collection Procedures
This section deals with the method and process of collecting data. The datacollected in this research mainly include the questionnaire data, interview data as wellas the test scores.Shortly after the research begins, a first time questionnaire was handed out to thestudents. So did a pre-test paper. At the end of this research, a second timequestionnaire and post-test paper would be handed out.Questionnaire is a main tool in this study. Twice questionnaires are carried out atthe very beginning and in the end of our ten-month-period research. Each time 50questionnaires are handed out. As there is teacher supervision, all of thequestionnaires are handed in after they filled it. The sample recovery was 100% forthe first time and none of them is invalid. The second time has 98% questionnairescollected back, and all the 98 questionnaires are valid. The methods of treatmentfactors and Statistical Description will be used for the analysis of questionnaire data.The Statistical Description includes mean scores, percent and standard deviation. Thetreatments factors include the t-test.The interview was carried out randomly both to the teacher and to the students.All of the interviews are recorded. And the audio files of interview will be turned intothe computer as text forms through the software of transcriber 1.4.Teachers’ interview was semi-structured interview which was carried out afterthe class. There are four teacher interviews in total. Every interview lasts no morethan ten minutes. During the research, there are totally four interviews for teacher. Forthe teachers’ interview, two of them are held in the first half of this research; andanother two for the second stage of this research.

Conclusion


The whole research is inspired by the idea that electronic dictionary could favorslearners’ language learning. After a pre-questionnaire investigation, the problem isidentified and an action plan is designed. Based on the plan, and the findings ofpre-questionnaire results, a ten-month-long procedure is designed. The contents ofresearch aim at overcoming the problems revealed by the pre-questionnaire. Duringthe research procedure, several interviews towards both teachers and students arecarried out. Several adjustments are made according to the interviews as well aspre-questionnaire to achieve a more desired result. When the ten-month-longprocedure is over, a post-questionnaire and post-test is implemented to check theoutcomes.The outcomes show that this research has basically accomplished its task. All thequestions are answered through this research. However, as to the fourth one, “whatcan teachers do to help students to use electronic dictionary more autonomously andeffectively?” is not yet so perfect. There are many other methods that this researchneglects. And it is hoped that the further research could make up for this shortcoming.Furthermore, some factors still are not overcome by the researcher.
