摘要:传统媒体与多媒体元素的结合非常重要,统媒体机构可以从小型社区到国家再到全球去吸引观众注意,并多媒体从多方面研究潜在问题的方式吸引了很多眼球。
ople whose stories they purport to disseminate.
Mojos based in the one area for a substantial period of time are far more likely to 'happen upon' interesting local stories, and their in-depth knowledge of the community can pay dividends when it comes to fostering trust with sources. Mojos have been described by one editor as 'hard-core journalists who are connecting with people in a very personal manner; they are in the community putting in the footwork necessary to find out what people care about and get the story told.' (Tom Cliffard, Editor of Florida Today, cited in Clark, 2007). These local stories obviously appeal to the members of the particular community that is under scrutiny, and this method of reporting has been successful for the much analysed News-Press project in Fort Myers, Florida, one of the first news organisations to embrace the use of mojos for hyper-local multimedia reporting. However, the journalistic focus on local communities as microcosms of wider societal issues is becoming increasingly popular, as news organisations begin to realise the potential of multimedia to bring local stories to international attention.
Multimedia and stories of aid and development
The work of Kevin Sites, 'the globally peripatetic sojo' (Martyn, 2009), is widely regarded as one of the most poignant examples of the power of multimedia reporting to bring local stories to a global audience, and this potential is increasingly recognised by news organisations covering issues of international aid and development. Where broadcasters are limited to time restrictions, and print journalists to word counts, unlimited spatial allowances on the web means there is inexhaustible opportunity for a journalist to contextualise a multimedia story to explain how that local story fits within a broader regional, national or global context, and why the news organisation has chosen to cover this particular story in detail. This can be particularly useful for explaining complex issues such as development of which the audience may have little background knowledge. Context can be given by including hyperlinks to other online articles and resources, databases, info boxes, or maps. Forums and comment pages may also be included, to enable users to add to the discussion. The Guardian are leading the way with the 'Katine: it starts with a village' project (see below), and in Ireland, RTé online journalist Blathnaid Healy has conducted two such multimedia projects since 2008: 'The Global Classroom' series followed Irish charity Camara's work to supply computers to children in Rwanda and Kenya, and 'The Humble Bee' series investigated how beekeeping in Kenya and Uganda is improving food security on a micro and a macro level. Both projects included text articles, video and audio clips which were hosted on RTé.ie.
案例研究:Katine-Case Study: Katine
The Guardian's three year multimedia 'Katine: it starts with a village' project has harnessed the potential of new media platforms, presenting the Katine region in Uganda as a microcosm of the difficulties facing rural villagers in sub-Saharan Africa, and offering a Western audience a window into their world within a modern journalistic context. The stories of the residents of the Katine region form the spine of the project's online content. Guardian journalists reporting from the region attempt to provide a forum for the people to express their vi
