本文是一篇高中英语教学论文，笔者根据自主学习教学指导模式（其中一个为控制班，实施传统教学模式应试教育），作者在高一第一学期对两个班的学生进行了实验教学。在本次教学实验中，教师作为实施新的教育方法和教学模式的引导者，努力为学生创造自主学习的良好氛围。在实施学生自主学习教学模式之前，进行了一次基本的调查（问卷调查），发现学生在进入高中之前没有完整的学习策略；许多学生的主动性和积极性不强；他们习惯于依靠教师的监督和检查。

Chapter One Introduction

1.1 Research Background

The  development  of  society  and  economy  has  an  impact  on  people’s  foreign language  levels.  The  General  High  School  English  Curriculum  Standard  infers  that “In the English teaching of senior high school, teachers should encourage students to form  the  process  and  methods  of  English  learning  with  the  characteristics  of  senior high  school  students  through  active  attempts,  self-inquiry,  self-discovery,  and  active practice.”  On  the  teacher’s  role,  they  are  learning  promoters  rather  than  language imparters  in  teaching.  Autonomous  learning  is  becoming  the  trend  of  high  school English teaching in the new era to fully mobilize learner’s zeal for study, to enable the learner to learn actively under the guidance of teachers, and to implement the reform of  learning  methods.  Therefore,  cultivating  students’  English  autonomous  learning ability is the requirement of society and the needs of the times. 

Learning  autonomously  is  very  important  for  education  study.  In  the  field  of curriculum theory, developing learner’s autonomous learning ability is seen as a vital curriculum objective; in the field of teaching theory, it is a crucial teaching approach for autonomous learning; in the field of learning theory, it is a useful way of study for autonomous  learning.  From  above,  we  can  see  that  all  branches  of  education  take autonomous  learning  as  their  own  research  theme.  They  recognize  that  autonomous learning  can  help  to  improve learner’s  educational results  and  become  the  basis  of being a life-long learner. 

English autonomous learning ability plays a pivotal role in the learning abilities of middle school students. Compared with the ability of autonomous learning in other subjects,  the  ability  of  autonomous  learning  in  English  is  more  important.  The informationization  and  globalization  make  English  become  more  and  more indispensable. In the future, the quality of a person’s lifelong learning will be largely constrained by the quality of English.

1.2 Research Significance
