, political change. The spirit of revolt was deep inside Bronte sisters’ heart. Most of their dramatis personae were full of the spirit of revolt, such as Jane Eyre, Sherry, and Catherine and so on. And their creation clou always show “revolt”. As a woman, they fight against their life to gain equality. Their sense of independence could be seeing from their works.
 2.1.2 Literature
The novel was possibly the most popular genre of the 19thcentury. Early 19th-century novels include those of English writer Jane Austen (including Sense and Sensibility, 1811 and Pride and Prejudice, 1813). Austen wrote novels of manners, often in a social world set apart from the rest of England (often in a country house), and usually concerning the nobleman and middle classes, but her characters increasingly reflect the wider range of her readership, which was increasingly female and middle class. Her style is one of irony and social satire. Perhaps the most obvious successors to Austen are Anthony Trollope (Bar Chester Chronicles, 1855) and English novelists Charlotte and Emily Bronte. The Bronte’s and their sister Anne was another writer, produced novels that were at once in the world of Austen's characters and yet were also influenced by Romanticism and the gothic novel. It was about the mid period of 19th century that they creative work. And also, this is the period that great changes taken place in Britain. At that time, the capitalism industry developed rapidly and the social class struggle was intensely. Some of the changes were mentioned in their works. They cared a lot about the politic and the social life. Their creativity and their thought mostly based on the social background. Charlotte Bronte’s most famous novel, Jane Eyre (1847), can be seen as both a gothic novel, a romance, and as a book with a feminist message. Wuthering Heights (1847), by Emily Bronte, is a darker work than those of Charlotte, and more gothic. Agnes Grey (1847), by Anne Bronte, was published together with Wuthering Heights. Charlotte, Emily, and their brother, published under the pseudonyms Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell, in an attempt to be accepted by a literary establishment that was almost exclusively male. However, their audience was largely female.
It was a sharp conflict that always came across in the works of the Bronte sisters. The heroine always happened to be a teacher in Charlotte and Anne’s works. And described how hard and unrespectable those middle class women lived in the social life. There were a lot of women writers before them, most of these women were come from middle class family. Although they did not have to worry about the financial problems, they could understand that how hard the average people’s life was. At that time, women writing was just for spiritual enjoyment, not for publish. Their works could be only seen among their friends or relatives. And the heroines were live in the family, called for love and freedom.
While Austen and the Bronte concentrated upon romantic love, later 19th-century prose fiction was to a great extent concentrated upon the problems of English society. English writers Mrs. Gaskell (Mary Barton, 1845-7, North and South, 1855) and Charles Dickens wrote stories to highlight social injustice. The works of both writers were serialized in magazines and reached a wider range of people than ever before. The stories were often focused on problems that faced members of the workin论文英语论文网提供整理,提供论文代写英语论文代写代写论文代写英语论文代写留学生论文代写英文论文留学生论文代写相关核心关键词搜索。
