 in  this  thesis  is  mainly  from  three  sources.  1)  Dictionaries such  as  the  Dictionary  of  Chinese  Netspeak  compiled  by  Yu  Genyuan  (2001),  The  latest network  communication  dictionary  (Zhou  Jianmin,  Xiong  Yimin,  2008).  2)  Social platforms  like  QQ,  We-chat  and  Blogs.  3)  Some lists  of  network  language  which  created by language enthusiasts, and they update the lists with time.  In  this  research,  the  abductive  reasoning  is  adopted  to  elaborate  the  research  topic approximately. The abductive reasoning is a form of logical inference which goes from an observation to a theory, ideally seeking to find the simplest and most likely explanation. In general,  the  abductive  reasoning  views  the  real  objects  or  phenomenon  as  the  starting point,  to  deduce  the  possible  development  process  of  object  or  phenomenon  with  some known premise. This study starts from the real existing phenomenon---Netspeak to deduce its  possible  development  process  with  the  premise  of  the  relationship  between  language and mind.The author has collected roughly 1000 words and selected some of typical Netspeak expressions  to  analyze  and  figure  out  what  mental  activities  the  netizens  have  been through. In order to increase reliability and validity of this study, another research method adopted  in  this  paper  is  the  descriptive  methods,  discourse  analysis  and  theoretical explanations.

Chapter Two   Literature Review 

The  Internet  technology  has  developed fast  since  the 1960s,  the history  of Netspeak study  is  much  shorter  then.  But  since  the  birth  of  Netspeak,  it  has  attracted  extensive attention of scholars both at home and abroad. With vigorous development of Netspeak, its effects  expand  into  all  aspects  of  culture  and  life.  Due  to  irregularity  of  Netspeak,  it  has not  been  fully  accepted  by  the  linguistics.  But  as  time  goes  by,  language  is  also  going through a process from quantitative change to qualitative one. Thus, Netspeak is a subject that can never be ignored among the language studies. 

2.1 Overseas research on Netspeak 
The original purpose of Netspeak is to pass information between computers. The first book  about  computer-mediated-communication  (CMC)  in  the  world  is  The  Network Nation: Human Communication via Computer (Hiltz, Turoff, 1978).
