The scholars both at home and abroad, study prepositionsfrom different aspects. They contribute a lot to the research of English polysemys and laya solid foundation for future research. The following is a review of the researches aboutpreposition on both at home and abroad. In regard to the studies of English preposition on, one of the most important researchfindings lies in the book A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language written byQuirk (1985). This book is regarded as the bible of traditional linguistic researches. ManyEnglish grammar works at home are edited according to Quirk’s theory, such as EnglishDeep Grammar written by Wang (2004) and Bo Bing English Grammar written by Bo andHe (2007). In this book, Quirk (1985) divides English prepositions into simpleprepositions (such as in, on) and complex prepositions (such as because of, on account of).

2.2 Studies of word sense disambiguation
As the research emphasis and difficulty, much attention has been paid to the study ofword sense disambiguation. By employing computer technology, word sensedisambiguation can realize the automatic exclusion of ambiguity. As shown by the existing information, four methods exist in the research of word sense disambiguation, namely,dictionary and knowledge-based method，supervised method，semi-supervised method andunsupervised method (Wikipedia, 2013). From time process, we can find that the study ofword sense disambiguation starts abroad. The following is a brief introduction of theirresearch achievements. Mandreoli and Martoglia (2011) discuss the problem of structural disambiguation. Onthe application of knowledge-based method, they propose a unified answer to sensedisambiguation on a large variety of structures both at data and metadata level such asrelational schemas, XML data and schemas, taxonomies, and ontologies. Through thecombination of different research methods, their research realizes the disambiguation ofstructural ambiguities. The research results show that the word sense disambiguationmethods proposed in this paper is very effective in the realization of structuraldisambiguation and can be applied in practice.
