摘要:本文是小学英语论文,本研究以《英语新课程标准》为研究目标,对外语教学与研究出版社的《新标准英语》进行分析,并对其使用情况进行调查,主要是想了解教材是否符合《英语新课程标准》和能否满足城乡教师和学生的需求。

1.1 Research Background
In China, English has become the elementary
Education course since 1977 and has been paid greater attention since 2001 when New English Curriculum Standard (NECS) was issued. In elementary English education, textbooks are important medium of learning and teaching (English Curriculum Standard, 2011). Cunningsworth (1984) proposed that “Course book is vitally important for both students and teachers in that the effectiveness of it can make contributions to facilitating teaching and learning through sufficient information about the language.” Textbooks are the core of teaching materials and have profound influence on the teaching quality (Yang and Wang, 2013). Textbooks are a key component in most language programs. Without textbooks, programmers may have no core, as Richards (2001) pointed out. They are closely related to curriculum and prescribe what students ought to know. Teachers can regard textbooks as core resources of teaching and activities in class. They are the key medium of achieving teaching and learning objectives (Zhang, 2015) and might have direct impact on English teaching and learning. However, no textbook is perfect. No matter how well a textbook is organized, it may still have drawbacks with regard to its users in different places, which makes the evaluation of it important and highly necessary. Textbook evaluation is a way to find out the advantages and disadvantages of a textbook so as to promote the development of it. The results of textbook evaluation can offer editors information to improve the quality of it, and can help education administrative department, schools and teachers to select the most suitable textbook according to a specific learning-teaching situation, for reasons that textbooks are compiled under the guidance of NECS by different people with different understanding of NECS and the needs of the users. Therefore, textbook evaluation attracts more scholars’ attention. Their analysis and evaluation of textbooks have provided necessary information for the users who might not have a good understanding of how NSE should be used, for editors of what the actual needs of the users and for whether it meets the requirements of NECS.
