摘要:本文是一篇阅读理解论文,研究借助改进的弗兰德斯互动分析系统(iFIAS),以初中英语阅读课堂为研究对象,运用iFIAS中的视频观察法、比率分析法和矩阵分析法进行数据分析。

Chapter 2 Literature Review

2.1 Definition of Key Concepts

Interaction refers to the cooperation between two or more people to exchangefeelings,thoughts,and ideas that lead to mutual influence(Brown,1981).Classroominteraction refers to the interaction between teachers and students or among studentsbased on the teaching content in the classroom.It is a face-to-face interpersonalactivity in which teachers and students participate together.Classroom interaction isalso a language communicative activity,which provides an opportunity for languagepractice(Li Hang,2013).Classroom interaction is the basic fact in languageclassrooms,and classroom teaching can take place only through an interactive process(Allwright,1984).In a broad sense,teacher-student interaction refers to all interactionand mutual influence between teachers and students.Whether it occurs in teaching oroutside teaching situation,it will lead to the same or opposite changes in both students’and teachers’the psychology and behavior.In a narrow sense,teacher-studentinteraction refers that in the teaching situation,teachers and students talk to each otherand influence each other(Zuo Bin,2012).From the angle of sociology,teacher-student interaction includes verbal interaction and nonverbal interaction,likepsychological and emotional interaction(Xu Fei,2015).

In this thesis,we adopt the narrow definition of teacher-student interactionaccording to Zuo Bin.Teacher-student verbal interaction is defined as:in the teachingcontext of English reading classes in junior high school,an oral interaction betweenteachers and students is conducted,including teachers’lecturing,questioning,evaluating,students’answering,discussing etc.,so as to achieve certain teachingobjectives.Narrowly defined,the teacher-student verbal interaction in this thesisdoesn’t include the nonverbal behavior in the classroom,such as the blackboardwriting,the teacher’s eye contact,gestures,expressions and postures,etc.

2.2 Relevant Researches on Teacher-Student Verbal InteractionAbroad and at Home

Many scholars abroad and at home have researched teacher-student verbalinteraction in depth from multiple perspectives,which mainly include the types anddiscourse modes,relevant factors,the relationship between teaching behavior andteaching effects,the importance and effectiveness of teacher-student verbal interaction,and the research tool and method.

2.2.1 Researches Abroad

As for the study on classroom speech behavior,it can be traced back to Kratz(1896).He establishes a scale of the characteristics of excellent teachers who arerecognized by children,and uses this scale as a reference for teacher training,whichopens the beginning of research into teachers’verbal behavior in teaching.
