To Increase Students’ Interests in Oral English by Well-designed Activities
1. Introduction
I have recently been teaching 1st year students at a middle school. In my teaching I have found to be some problems. Most of my students don’t 英语论文like speaking English, but some of them get high scores in their examination. I think this problem does much harm to them. English is a language to be spoken, I do not want them to treat it as a dead language. I would love to change this and I think it would also help to improve their examination score .I checked my problem scientifically to see whether it is able to be reasearched and I have discussed it with my tutor .I do think this problem is serious so I have used several methods of problem analysis. They are analytic method, cause analysis, questionnaire, interview and brainstorming activation. My desire is to find a solution with the knowledge I have learned during my studies at Guizhou University for Nationalities.
2. Summary of the Preliminary Research
2.1) Analytic method
Since my students are 1st-year middle school students, they are 11-12 years old, I think they know the importance of English. But I don’t believe they know the importance of English speaking. I want them understand that English is a language like Chinese. That means you must use it in your daily life. English speaking is as important as translating and writing and you can’t have successful communication if you only get a high score in your written examination. Maybe they don’t have the environment to try or don’t think English is as interesting as I do. Maybe they can’t get any help when they are in difficulties. Because of these things, I feel it is my responsibility to change this situation.
