摘要:本文是一篇英语论文写作笔记,本研究旨在找出高中生作文中词块使用的特点,并探讨影响词块使用的可能原因。
本文研究了四种类型的词块在高中生作文中的分布,结果表明,学生使用搭配和句子框架最多,其次是多义词和制度化话语。也就是说,在他们的作文中,他们倾向于使用搭配、从句和连词等。此外,英语习语学习的不足也是显而易见的。
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
In the process of learning English, the learners are required to master four basicskills------listening, speaking, reading and writing. While, among all the four skills, writingbeing a productive skill is thought to be the most vital and difficult skill. For one thing, weare supposed to realize the important role that writing plays in English learning. Requiringthe internalization of the knowledge of the learners, writing proficiency to a great extent isthe symbol of one’s overall language competence. That means that those who has goodwriting ability are considered as excellent and qualified learners. In addition to that, thewriting proficiency is required by the English curriculum standards. Therefore, cultivatingand facilitating the students’ writing ability is one of the ultimate goals of English teaching.In China, writing accounts for a large proportion of the total scores in many important tests,such as College Entrance Examination, College English Test and so on, and those tests areused to evaluate the students’ language competence. All in all, for the sake of improvingoverall language competence, the learners ought to attach great importance to writing. Foranother thing, compared with the other three skills, writing is the most integrated one.Being a skill that is difficult for the learners to improve, writing brings the learnerschallenge and difficulty in the process of learning. To achieve the goal of transforminginformation and expressing the thoughts by using the target language, the learners are notonly required to produce writing, but also to guarantee the fluency, coherence andidiomaticity of the production. Thus, it is not easy for the learners to improve their writingability.

1.2 The Significance of the Study
This research will make a contribution to the study of lexical chunk by investigatingthe current situation of the use of lexical chunks in the writing of senior high schoolstudents. The significance of the study can be found in the following two aspects:
Theoretically, this study will provide some new findings for the use of lexical chunksin the writing of senior high school students. It is known that the studies on chunks havearoused increasing interest, however, nowadays, most researches still mainly focus ontheoretical exploration. Those researchers mainly describe the important role of chunks inlanguage use and the application of lexical chunk to pedagogical practice. The researchesof lexical chunks in writings are of countable number, and most of the researches areconducted to compare the writings of native speakers with those of non-native speakers, orto study on the effects of lexical chunks on writing proficiency at college level. Thus, thispaper pays attention to the students in senior high school and also tries to explore thereasons influencing the use of lexical chunks in writing, which makes some supplements tothe previous studies on lexical chunks and writing.
