摘要:In the latter decades of last century, more importance was attached to culturelearning and teaching in the study of foreign language learning and teaching. Chinesescholars represented by Hu and Gao proposed that language and culture areinseparable.
Chapter IV Results and Data Analysis
4.1 Data Analysis of Cultural Identity Questionnaire
Data tables and charts in this chapter are mainly processed by SPSS and Excel.All the data are recorded and analyzed carefully. The research tries to investigate thecurrent situation of college students' native cultural identity and find out problemsbased on the analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaire.Chart 4.1 shows the picture of overall data collection for the four groups ofidentity items (Group of items A, B, C and D) in the cultural identity questionnaire. As shown in the chart, the participants have different choices for each group ofitems. There is clearly STRONGLY AGREE for group of items Al, B3,B5,D2,andD4 while STRONGLY DISAGREE is relatively high for B2 and Dl. Data analysis foreach group would be done respectively in the flowing part.

Conclusion
In the era of confliction and fusion between traditional Chinese culture andwestern culture, individualistic western values and beliefs have gradually beenbrought to the Confucianism-oriented collectivistic Chinese society. Under thebackground of cultural fusion, the identity puzzle of a special group—college studentsof non-English majors become the research target of this paper. According to theresult of the survey, there are two major findings. The purpose of learning a language is to conduct communication.Communication makes language useful and valuable. Every communication takesplace under certain language background. In this case, language learning, to someextent, is a kind of culture learning. With the advancement of globalization and thedevelopment of college English teaching, experts, as well as English teachers, tookgreat efforts to make English learning more effective and communicative. With theupsurge of "College English Test" (CET),English learning is attached to too muchimportance. With more contact with western cultures, the young generation is put in avery complex situation in which traditional Chinese culture and western culturecoexist.
