ries and explain what the traditional family is and what the modern one is.
4.2 Culture-Introduction by Comparison of Chinese and Western Cultures
When teaching a foreign culture, it should be compared with our own culture. This will obviously stir students' interest in English learning and ultimately improve their understanding of both Chinese culture and English culture. For instance, when teaching "the Christmas Day", teachers can convey the culture knowledge about the custom of celebration, the story of Christ and Saint Claus, the religious activities, the religious origin and so on. Meanwhile, teachers can remind the students' of the most important festival in China, the New Year's Day, which has the same position in Chinese, just as the Christmas Day in certain western countries. Another example is about different daily lifestyles. These different daily customs will certainly wake up students' curiosities. For example, after teaching offering and receiving an invitation in America, teachers can let students tell us about the differences and resemblances between Chinese habits and English ones. Through comparison and contrast of the two cultures, students will easily understand English culture, and be reminded of Chinese culture as well. In some sense, it is advisable to teach Chinese traditional culture among the new generations lest students would lose their own culture sense while learning English culture.
Besides conventions, the deep levels between the two cultures are comparable. Many foreign and home scholars, Larry A. Samovar,Richard E. Porter, Lisa A.Stefani, Hu WenZhong, Jia Yuxin, Lin Dajin and etc, have been studying the difference and resemblances of the western and the eastern cultures, such as values and beliefs. And understanding of cultural values helps us appreciate the behavior of other people and our own (Du Ruiqing and Tian Dexin 2004:281). Also, Cultural universalism and Cultural relativism indicate that all cultures of the human beings are comparable. To teach students by comparison and contrast will enlarge their horizon about culture and cultivate their perfect personality.

In colleges, English corners are also very popular, because they usually provide students with some practical and useful topics about daily life.
4.3.1 Culture-Introduction through Films and Videos
In the process of culture-introduction, Some advanced teaching instrument like movie, TV, video and epidiascope, are picture and visual. Some of them specially introduce the customs and practices of English- speaking countries. For example, Family Album. For example, Gone with the Wind, Jane Eyre, Titanic and so on. Teachers should suggest students watch movies with Chinese subtitles, because it may help students develop their English skills.
