small downtown, such as KFC and Dicos. Most consumers are youth, even if there are some old people, who are only moneybags. These shops have become the good place to hold parties and have a holiday.
Pull open the glass door, feel the rush of cool air, listen to the pop music, walk in, get on line, study the book lit color photographs above the counter, place your order, hand over some money, watch teenagers in uniforms pushing various buttons saying “good choices”, moment later, take hold of a plastic tray full of food wrapped in color paper and cardboard.
The whole experience of buying fast food has become so routine for the Y Generation, so thoroughly unexceptional and mundane, that it is now taken for granted, like brushing teeth or stopping for red light.
Furthermore, Chinese traditional social environment faces challenge. Lots of Chinese special snake shops confront bleak reception. So a strange culture called alternative modernity appears in this line. In Panzhihua, a new fast foot shop with fitting Chinese diet habit is born, which is called Meilelin.
In the field of literature, this phenomenon belongs to Postcolonial theory. Which refers to the confliction of two different social cultures because of the effect of colony, from Spivak’s Outside in the Teaching Machine, meanwhile, subversion of outside culture.
It proves to be not only a revolutionary force but a fierce force of globalization. What the Y Generation eats (or does not eat) is determined by a complex interplay of social economy, and technological force, meanwhile, the enjoyment of them. A nation’s diet can be more revealing than its art and literature.
Reception the fast food imply to a new preference of value, just like the fans love all of a singer’s songs because they love him, people play basketball because the time of basketball belongs to NBA, blindness, no destination but only pursuing modern, though the Y Generation are bland for high fat and sugar in hamburger.
Undoubtedly, it is the attitudes which stigmatize them from society who smuggle heavy fetishism and jouissance and leave their excellent family heirloom go away.
Of course, reception new ideas and matters are people’s necessary skill. However, do Chinese people always stay at the table with kinds of hamburgers without any home dishes? Please remember: we are different race from white and black.
C. Sex in Y Generation’s Eyes
Surely, it is the time for the Y Generation to show their opinion on this matter and be able to. They are most active group in this research field—as the Y Generation will be the main force of social reform in 21st century.
This is not a social matter but a moral issue under the sun. The most serious fact is ***ism, which describes the specificity of female oppression.
In China, it is a fact that the females have been objectified from ancient time. The traditional and feudal patriarchy has controlled the whole society about 2000 years. This status embodies two core conceptions.
The first is that the men are more important than women. Not necessarily superior—people are far too sophisticated these days than to use those tainted terms—but more important, more significant, more valuable, more worthwhile. It is value that justifies the idea that it is more important for a man, the “breadwinner”, to have a job or a promotion, than a woman, more important for a man to be paid well, more important for a man to have an education and in general to have preference over a woman.
