Implication of Balanced Scorecard in commercial bank in China:
Case study of Funing branch of Bank of China
As one of the best performance measurement management and strategic management tool 代写留学生论文(Kaplan & Norton 1996), balanced scorecard (BSC) has been paid much attention all over the world. However, China is on the initial stage in implementation of BSC. This article analyzes the implementation of BSC in commercial bank since commercial bank is the first industry applying BSC in China. The basic aim of this research is to discuss the current situation of implementing BSC as performance measurement tool and strategic management tool in commercial bank in China and find out problems in the process of implementation. To do so, a case study to Funing branch of Bank of China is conducted to demonstrate the implementation. The bank has been through three stages in their performance measurement revolution. And they are still in the process of constantly improving. Drawing from the case, it proved that commercial bank has realized the importance of innovation their performance measurement system facing the increasingly fierce competitive context and applying BSC integration with their strategies. However, there are several limitations that some of them are due to the internal operation defects. And some of these limitations are depend on national condition. This article also integrates the problems in commercial bank with the general context in China and offer suggestions.

Chapter1 INTRODUCTION:
1.1 Background:
The arrival of knowledge economy brings a dramatic change to enterprises on internal and external operation. For instance, the stress of the market has shifted from seller to buyer and the status of knowledge capital is getting more and more important in the enterprise. In order to survive and develop within this kind of economic background, enterprises should be able to efficiently forecast the future customers’ needs and capable to innovation. And it is important to increase the knowledge capital investment and pay more attention to stakeholders, strengthen on the cooperation with other enterprise. All these requirements have already surmounted the traditional enterprise competition pattern in industry economy age (Yilmaz 2009). The era of knowledge economy enables the competition among enterprises expands in time and space. Whatever the industry an enterprise belongs to, and regardless of what product or service an enterprise provides, in order to obtain long-term survival and development, the enterprise must attach importance to strategic management (Joyce 2001). Under this objective condition, the traditional performance measurement in a company is not probable any more if it only measures the current financial results.
