negative affect is not helpful to bring learner’s potential into full play as many language learners are afraid of communicating with their classmates and teachers. They often feel anxious due to over-anxiety. All of them can lead to influent language expression, losing learning interest and confidence. Of course, their learning result is not satisfactory. All the positive affects can be conducive for foreign language learning, cultivate learning quality, and strengthen learning motivation and learning initiatives and aims. However, negative affects should be overcome in the process of foreign languages learning.
III. Cultivation of Positive Affective Factors in the Process of Foreign Language Learning
A. Cultivating Learner’s Initiative in Foreign Language Learning
As for a foreign language learner, it is quite important for him to establish a proper kind of attitude towards foreign language learning. Active learning attitude can make the learners have great interest in target language, its society and culture, and hope to communicate with the native people so that they can strengthen sensibility to culture difference and overcome learner’s excluded or negative psychology to the social binding force, culture tradition, custom and so on as well as understand, respect, agree with and accept society and culture of the target languages. Therefore, during the design, arrangement, and implementation of teaching and learning activity, teachers should put emphasis on developing positive affective factors, and learner’s initiative and make use of the situation to enhance confidence, self-esteem, and awareness of empathy, reduce or avoid negative emotive factors, such as tension, anxiety, inhibition, disgust and so on, and finally make the learning joyful and self-consciously behavior, and even a part of the learner’s life.
B. Reducing Language Anxiety and Improving Learning Efficiency
Reducing or clearing internal and external of anxiety is a kind of effectual way to overcome learner’s anxiety. Setting good relationship of teachers and students contributes to clear student’s psychological guard and these feelings, and reduce anxiety. Teachers should pay attention to communicate with students, shorten the distance of teachers and their students. Teachers should encourage and help study, pay attention to control and regulate the learner’s mood bring their confidence, safeguard their self-esteem, stimulate their initiative and motivation. As for teachers, they should make teaching methods become richer, reasonably design, arrange, organize and implement teaching, create relaxed and harmonious classroom, environment, enhance learning sense of achievement and confidence. Then teachers should help students follow out cooperative learning and self-consciously learning establishes good relations with students to enhance learning motivation. The learner themselves also should actively analyze the reasons of causing anxiety, overcome individual anxiety and inhibition, strengthen confidence and improve learning results.
