Then they will face the similar matters , suchas how to bargain with customers and earn more with lesscost , s o that they can know what kinds of pers ons areneeded by market and company and get resembled workingexperiences that have special means to them.
3. 2 Using role - play or group work to training basic language abi lities
Basic language activity abilities include s ome usefulcommunication ways , such as using of phones , receivingand entertaining foreign visitors. Chinese students usuallyemphasize writing and grammar and neglect useful language activity abilities. We can see this point from a research , which shows“writing letters”and“writing tele2grams”are in Band A for Chinese and in Band B for Eu2ropeans , “conversation with one pers on”, “travelingabroad”,“receiving and entertaining foreign visitors”arein Band B for Chinese and in Band A for Europeans ,“taking
notes at meetings”and“writing reports and min2utes”are in Band C for Chinese and in Band D for Europeans. At the same time , we can find from Europeans’attitude that language activity abilities are meaning ful .Role - play and group work are suitable teaching methodsfor improving language activity abilities in Business Eng2lish. Both of them inv olve students taking on differentroles and per forming tasks , as well as s olving problems.Therefore , role - play and group work have widely used inBusiness English teaching. However , it doesn’ t meanthat once teachers use the two methods , they can makeeffective result in teaching. I t is naturally that we can ex2press the same ideas with different delivery ways. Teach2ers now propose“opening teaching”without limiting stu2dents thinking. And students always are used to choosingthe expression ways that have exited in their heads. Thisleads to repeat reciting old sentences in class and wasteprecious time. In order to av oid this phenomena happen2ing , teachers should fix several useful sentences newlyappeared in textbook and stipulate students to use thembefore they ask students to do role - play and group work.I t is necessary to let students exercise the newly basic lan2guage activity abilities till they can reveal their own opin2ions and s olve actual issues. And then they can accumu2late their experiences to communicate and neg otiate withothers with various expressions in business world.
4 Conclusion
Business English is one of important majors in ourcollege. In order to improving the teaching result , weshould acquaint ourselves with our shortcomings and keepamending them , and then it is certain that the teaching inthis aspect will keep developing with all teachers’en2deav or working in our college.
