The comparative study on English and Chinese humor expressions finds out that rough correspondence exists between them in terms of some linguistic devices and a special language form namely body language which create humor.

In the long history, Chinese people went through the peace and war, the prosperity and decadence of the nation; they tasted the respect and admiration, the oppression and humiliation. For the different history and geographical environment, Chinese people are introversive, self-inhibited, modest and forbearing, while westerners are more explorative, aggressive, open-minded and active.

Therefore, Chinese culture believes that the world is full of sufferings, and individual has the ability to solve the suffering. Chinese people pursue the peace and harmony with the nature and the companions, and they live simple life and show more care to others.
During the long Middle Ages, religion and theology had been dominating every aspect of the social economy and culture in Western world. Religious concepts have deeply rooted into Westerners’ ideology. In Western countries, the dominant religion is Christianity. As a religion of about a billion people scattered throughout the world, it advocates the individualism, the most important value orientation for Westerners.
