The significance of this study not only lies in the analysis of the types and causes of adjective-noun errors but also in the pedagogical implication.It can draw a conclusion, this study about adjective-noun collocation errors is of great importance of second language learners, especially the English majors’ students in certain Normal University as well as teachers and language researchers. The major research findings of this study will be in favor of language learning, teaching and researching.

Chapter 2 Literature Review
This chapter intends to review the literature from four parts. In the first section, collocation is discussed briefly, including definition and classification of collocation, classifications of adjective-noun collocation error. In the second section, error analysis is mainly reviewed. Its definition as well as procedures of error analysis and the theoretical foundations of error analysis is presented. English writing and previous studies of error analysis on adjective-noun collocation at home and abroad are discussed in the last two sections.
2.1 Collocation
The notion “collocation” is especially important to linguists who investigate vocabulary in linguistics. Since different scholars have various opinions about collocation, it is not easy to get a quite accordant definition of collocation. Some primary understandings on definitions of collocation are in the following. Firth (1957), “father of collocation”, originates the word “collocation” firstly. According to him, collocations “are actual words in habitual company ”. This definition studies lexical meaning from the syntagmatic relation. He (1957) insists that “collocations of a given word are statements of the habitual or customary places of that word” (p. 195). In his view, the meaning of a word can be understood clearly through recognizing the words it companies with. Firth’s concept has a profound influence on the subsequent researchers. “lexis seems to require the recognition merely of linear co-occurrence together with some measure of significant proximity, either a scale or at least a cut-off point.
