an let the students acquire knowledge of Business English and meanwhile improve their English-based skills. Also, little research has been done to find out how to help students improve learning ability, innovation and ability to cooperate, and make them combine the skills mentioned above organically and put them into practice expertly.
To solve the above problems, this study attempts to break through the traditional teaching mode, to use Constructivism Theory to inject fresh energy into the teaching of Business English reading, and to raise students’ interest in Business English learning. Teaching activities are conducted on the base of Constructivism Theory in the experience learning mode. There are enough opportunities for students to experience, perceive and think about the new content they have just touched and then summarize the result of their thinking, get a new conception and apply it to the new context. Therefore, the focus of Business English teaching is not only on the learning of language and business knowledge but also on fostering the learning ability and developing the overall ability of the students. Our final aim is to let our graduates become people who have high quality, high skill and who can conduct business activities in the international field.
In this paper the constructivism theory is applied to business English teaching. In this paper the constructivism theory is applied to business English teaching. The differences of teaching principle, teaching objective, teaching framework, teaching method and relationships between teachers and students between traditional business English teaching and business English teaching process based on constructivism theory are Analyzed. In the business English teaching process based on constructivism, students are the teaching center, and teachers should be organizers, instructors and promoters. Teacher should set teaching goals and choose the corresponding teaching method according to the students’ characteristics, support and encourage students and pay more attention to cultivating students’ learning interests, help students form good learning motivation. In a certain situation, students can obtain knowledge through the way of meaning construction and using some necessary learning materials under the teachers’ help. Then analyze the teaching achievement based on constructivism theory by using experiment. In the experiment, the students were divided into experimental group and control group. In the experimental group, students are taught with teaching method and teaching principle based on constructivism theory. While the control group students receive the teaching mode from the traditional teaching way. Students’ reading speed and comprehensive reading ability will be tested in both groups as well as questionnaires and interviews will be done. Finally, data from experiment, questionnaires, interviews and other methods is analyzed, and draw the conclusion that business English teaching modes based on Constructivism can have an impact on students’ learning ability.
The author studies the effect of Constructivism theory in teaching in the ways of experiment, questionnaire and interviews, and mainly answered three questions in the followings:
