Both of these terms are known as socially responsible investment (SRI) by the public. Their purposes are similar which consider the effects to society and environment as part of the investment. However, there is a little difference between ethical investment and sustainable investment. According to Hirshman (2007), “the first one is interested in earning a return related to the level of systematic risk of the investment and the second is willing to accept below-market rates of return in order to contribute to certain forms of socially improvement inside an economic activity.”
For example, corporate reduce net profit to increase wage of their employees or use part of the profit to provide a better working environment and health program for employees. This activity is ethical investment because the corporate still has most of the profit and employees may work harder to return the corporate. The activity which corporate uses their profit for environmental issues is sustainable investment because it may not have return or have return in short time.

Ethical and Sustainability Investment is the normative principle for the further development of the society, it broadly focuses what it should be. The morality is becoming crucial factor of the society and the people around (Technological and Economic Development of Economy, 2008 PP 29 – 37)
