With the development of specialty beverage industry across the world, increasing number of competitors of Starbucks appearscontinually. Nevertheless, Starbucks's performance is still growing steadily each year. The revenue of it is growing by 20% a yearand it is reported that a new store of Starbucks appears in the world every 8 hours.
1.2 The rational
For Kunda (1992), cultures must be studied in context by simultaneously considering
managerial conceptions of culture, their enactment and the responses of members. Through  a participant observation study  of a high-tech corporation, Kunda (1992)
noted that while managers attempted to' bind employees' hearts and minds' to the

corporate interest, the pervasive employee response was irony-acceptance and detachment at the same time. In a way, the data described here also resembles Adder's
(1992) thesis that organizational culture does not diminish the importance of national
culture, which was found to explain about 50 percent of the differences in employees'
attitudes and behaviour (Hofstede 1980). Adler (1992) explains that pressure to conform to the organizational culture of a  foreign-owned company brings out employees' resistance, causing them to cling more firmly to their own national identities.
1.3 The aims
In summary, the overall aims for this piece of research are:
(1) To critically evaluate whether a relationship between corporate culture and corporate strategy exist in practice. In theory, many scholars have demonstrated the close relationship between them, but there is till a lack of enoughempiricalresearches. This researchcan supplementthe existing rational but also a cast study.
(2) To explore the operation mechanism of corporate culture on corporate strategy. The research will examine how corporate culture takes effect on the corporate strategy and whatroles the corporateculture has played in all stages about corporate strategy.
(3) To discuss how corporateculture contributes to the successof Starbucks. From a small store selling coffee bean to one of the most famous brands in the world, Starbucks is the research focus of the management field all the time. Excellent leadership, brandmanagementstrategy and marketing strategy are proved to have contributedgreat to the company' s success. However, the author thinks that its unique corporate culture should not be neglected.  
(4) Make recommendations on selecting and carrying out the corporate strategy according to the existing culture. Recommendations will be made based on the primary and secondary research findings.
1.4 How the aims are to be achieved
