摘要:Furthermore, this research aims to make contribution to the development of legalEnglish test which reflects the pragmatic significance. As the demand of English invarious areas, a lot of tests have been developed in different countries in recent decades.
2.2Authenticity
The concept of authenticity in language testing emerged as the development ofcommunicative language tests which pay attention to examining test takers’ ability tofinish real task in real situation. In the past decades a lot of researchers have givenvarious definitions to this term since their starting point or research method weredifferent .They defined it from the perspective of text, task, or the test takers, etc.The term “authenticity” was first put forward by some material writers (Close,1965;Broughton, 1965) in the mid 1960s when they realized that what language learners werelearning cannot represent the target language. At that time authenticity meant textsextracted from real life sources rather than those written for pedagogical purposes.Some scholars associate “authenticity” with tasks, holding the view that the test tasksshould mirror real-life task. The discussion focusing on the nature of input remains for along time. For example, some scholar (Wilkins, 1976) advocated using texts that hadnot been simplified and tasks that simulate those the test takers would meet in the reallife or real world.

This part explores the authenticity of materials in the two tests. The authenticity ofmultiple choice, translation in LEC, and the authenticity of listening, speaking in ILECare examined separately.
