摘要:The significance of this study can be divided into three aspects. First, it is a newattempt to deal with tests from the CDA perspective. Since CDA became widespreadin the discourse analysis world, numerous critical analyses have been taken on newsor political discourses, but few have related to tests.

Thus, language-structure could be mobilized to control or limit thought. In the final chapter, Fowlerand Kress (1979) proposed the concept of ―critical linguistics, and expounded itstheory source, systemic functional grammar, as well as its analytic tools. Throughanalyzing language structure they prove that discourse is affected by ideology. Theirbook is a contribution to the unveiling of linguistic practices which are instruments insocial inequality and the concealment of truth. The publishing marked the birth ofcritical linguistics.

2.2 Previous Studies of Critical Discourse Analysis at Home
Domestic studies can be roughly divided into two categories according to theirmethods and contents. They are the category of theory introduction and commentary,and the category of theory application and extension (Zhi Yongbin, 2007). In China, the study of CDA was started by Chen Zhongzhu and Xin Bin late inthe 1990s.Chen Zhongzhu, first brought up the concept of CDA in his article A Survey ofCritical Linguistics which was published in 1995. He (1995a) views criticallinguistics as the application of linguistic methods in the analysis of implicit ideologyof public discourse. In addition, it reviews its development and divided it into fourperiods. By Chen Zhongzhu‘s introducing, a new perspective to analyze discourse andideology was known to the domestic scholars. Another important scholar whom I should mention here is Xin Bin. ProfessorXin Bin got involved in critical linguistics when he was studying in the UK during theearly 1990s. After returning home, he introduced a systematic method of discourseanalysis to domestic linguistics, and firstly set up a critical linguistics course topostgraduate. He (1996) refers critical linguistics as the study of the ideological natureof language and the ways in which language incorporates or reflects the structures andpower relations in society. His paper gives a detailed introduction of criticallinguistics, and it also presents a brief critical analysis of two newspaper articles toexplain how ideology influences language use, and how the power class who controlsthe media uses language as a tool to spread and strengthen its ideology. His otherarticles in this category like Language, Text and Power (2003) and On theMethodology of Critical Discourse Analysis (2002) helps readers better understandabout critical linguistics, and improve their awareness of critical reading ability.
