摘要:本文是大学英语教学论文,通过衔接错误分析的理念的分析,调查学生对于衔接错误和及学生学习实践中的一些错误,对衔接手段的错误进行一些讨论将会对中国英语写作教学的一些教学启示。
2.2 Error analysis theory
This section introduces the theory of error analysis, highlighting three aspects: firstly,a historical overview of the theory, followed by an explanation of the framework inreference to error analysis and an introduction to error feedback.In the early 1960s, errors were regarded as the persistence of the “mother tongue’shabits in the new language” (Lado, 1957, cited in Corder, 1971: 201). As such, theinstrument for studying errors was contrastive analysis, which attributed the source oferrors to the L1’s negative influence on L2. In 1967, Corder firstly stressed the importanceof errors by stating that errors not only reflected how well a learner learnt, but alsolearners’ learning strategies. More studies on L2 errors were then carried out, the findingsof which revealed that contrastive analysis was inaccurate as a majority of L2 errors werenot caused by the interference of mother tongue (for example Dulay& Burt, 1973; Ellis,1985). Investigating and classifying possible sources of errors therefore became the mainfocus in error analysis studies. Prior to 1972, Selinker used the term “interlanguage” torefer to a dynamic second language acquisition system that involves both features of thenative and second languages and which is built according to the learner’s own rules. Theerrors which seemed to be neither similar to the native language nor the second languagewere able to be explained. Corder (1981: 16) finally defined error analysis as “a type ofbilingual comparison” between interlanguage and target language. In this way, despitepedagogical purposes, error analysis could also be used to explore and describe learners’interlanguage.

4.1 Data analysis
Since solely quantitative data is used in this research, data analysis is primarilyconcerned with how to present the data numerically (Creswell, 1998; Greener, 2011). Asthe data analysis in this research is not complex (only requiring frequency and percentagefigures), Microsoft Excel software was used as the data analysis tool rather than the morecomplex ‘Statistical Package for Service Solutions’ (SPSS) (Greener, 2011). Based on theresearch questions, the analysis of data not only includes the analysis of students’argumentative essays and their questionnaires, but also involves the statistical comparisonof the above two results.
