uation. Such classshould be full of energy, lives, and human care. Classroom ecology pays muchattention to student's interest, feelings and sentiment and fights for the student'sdevelopment.
Through the ecology view, classroom ecology of college nowadays is to someextent non-ecological. Classroom teaching ignores student's interest, feelings andsentiment and teachers control both the teaching progress and students. We can seethere is an unbalanced phenomenon between teachers and students. They are short ofcommunication especially the inner hearts conversation. What's more, the mainfactors of education also have an unbalance relation with the teaching materials.Teachers follow the steps of textbooks seriously and ignore the practical abilities ofstudents. The poorest thing is that the textbooks are far away from the real life and thepractical abilities. Besides the upper phenomena, the lack of language environmentfor students to learn language is a unique disadvantage for English classroom ecology.We encourage "classroom ecology" aiming to change classroom teaching from a"dried-up desert" to its original "oasis". Therefore, we can say classroom ecology is atool to make classroom education back to the pure and real situation again. As for thefurther development of education reform, the study of classroom ecology at home andabroad has gotten more and more attention. The study on English classroom ecologyjust bases on such background. This essay tends to use the related ecologic theories toinvestigate the ecologic situation of English classroom.


Chapter Two Literature Review


2.1 The Evolution of Classroom Ecology
The study of classroom ecology originated from the guidance of ecology. AGermany biologist named Haeckel. E. set ecology in 1866 and from then on, the studyon ecology started. He thought ecology was a science about the relation among theliving things themselves and their living environment. Its basic spirit contains system,balance and relation. From 20th century, people started using the basic theories andmethods of ecology to study the serious problems of human existence and thedevelopment of human society, such as the environment pollution, food deficiency,population increasing and the like. All the problems have been the study focus ofhuman ecology and social ecology. The developments of these two sciences,especially the human ecology, have promoted the emergency and development ofeducational ecology directly.
The study about educational ecology started from 1940s. Barker R and Wright Hwho are both from Kansas University set a psychology scene laboratory. Thislaboratory was a center for ecology study at that time. In 1970s, Bronferbrenner Ufrom Connell University followed them to study on human behaviors and tried to set ascience about ecology of human development. All these studies kept focus on therelation between the individual behaviors under the school situation and theenvironment. At the same period, there were more and more studies on the ecology ofschool environment. In 1966, American educator Ashby E projected a definitionnamed "ecology of higher education". (Ashby, 1966). In 1976, the definition of"ecology of education" was first mentioned by American Columbia Teacher Collegeheadmaster Gremin, L.A. in his book Public Education.(范国眷,1995).
