1.2 Research Objectives研究目标
听力理解是非常重要的,在英语听力测试和日常英语交流,英语听力教学和学习的研究已成为一个非常有意义的和必要的部分。Listening comprehension is important in both English listening test and daily Englishcommunication, the research on it becomes a very meaningful and necessary part for Englishlistening teaching and learning. With the speedy progress of teaching technologies in recentyears and in light of the nature of listening and the practical demand, English learningespecially English listening becomes a central part for fluent English communication. At thesame time, some scholars are devoted to making researches on listening comprehension, suchas Dong Hui, Zhang Sheru, Zhuang Lin, Zhang Qing, Liu Jianbo and Zhuang Lin. Intheoretical sense, they studied the necessity, feasibility and strategies of listening cultivation.But the researches associated with EFL listening are still rudimentary in China. In theteaching practice of listening comprehension, some teachers just left the students learning bythemselves and neglected the important role of them, thus resulting in the reduction ofstudents' learning interest. Hence, the current problem is whether teachers can reconstructtheir roles effectively in teaching application to satisfy the demand of current teaching andlearning situation. This is a regularly discussed topic among English teachers and Englishlearners,but there is little embedded research about it. Since the study of English listening inChina is a fledgling area, to further testify its effectiveness and set up an efficient model forEnglish listening, more empirical studies are required. The author did an investigation of thepresent situation about college students listening abilities, methods and problems they met,and explored the teacher and students' role in English listening.This thesis is to present an introduction of dynamic context, relevance theory, andexplore a complementary strategy for English listening efficiently, promote students' interestin learning listening comprehension, help them craft practical listening strategies, and thusimprove their comprehensive listening and communicative skills. Through the analysis of allsituations of teaching college English listening comprehension, the research tries to discoverthe effect of applying theories of dynamic context and relevance theories in teaching practiceand apply an efficient way to improve the quality of teaching English listeningcomprehension.The first objective of the research is to help students make communication with higherefficiency through the research of dynamic context and Relevance Theory. Under the Englishteacher's guidance and help,on the one hand, students are capable of deciding what they aregoing to learn in consideration of requirements and their stored knowledge. On the other hand,Students are able to handle their learning programs. In this way, the students are greatlymotivated and will take more interests in English learning, which largely sets up learners'listening competence.Secondly, this research is intended to showcase the significance of English listeningcomprehension, directing students actively to combine the context and the information inlistening process. The nature and process of English listening has been studied by manyresearchers.
