摘要:The research focuses on the internal and external evaluation on the textbook LearningEnglish which is published by Hebei Education Press and DC Canada InternationalCommunication Center. It has been used in Xianyang Shaanxi province for more than sixyears.
Conclusion
Many students in middle school do not like English because the textbook is boringand complicated, besides the reason that some of them have not been adequatelyprepared for the study. This evaluation may offer some information to further understandthe textbook and encourage students and teachers to make some adaptation.Based on the implication above, some suggestions are proposed as follows:
(1) The textbook should add a variety of attractive illustrations that can stimulatestudents' creativity.
(2) Replacing the listening material with a better one that is well recorded, moreauthentic, and accompanied with background information, questions, and activities.
(3) Allowing some flexibility by providing opportunity to practice languageformally and informally so that students can practice various degrees of language such assimple greetings, short telephone exchanges, polite requests and formal invitations.
