摘要:本文是英语阅读论文,为了丰富外语阅读焦虑的证据存在于学习和为教师提供足够的教学策略,本文旨在探讨高职非英语专业学生英语阅读焦虑和了解阅读焦虑的存在和潜在的原因。
Chapter One Introduction
In order to investigate the potential sources of the Vocational student’s English reading anxiety and find out some good teaching strategies of improving students’ reading achievements,the present study analyzes reading anxiety Questionnaires and makes an action research to achieve the purpose. The first chapter simply describes the background and the purpose of the study, and tells the practical and theoretical significance of this research.
1.1 Research background
As one of the basic language skills, reading plays a very important role in language learning. King, Holley and Weber (1975) regarded reading skill as the foundation of listening and the evolvement of speaking and writing ability (p.170). Anderson (1999) claimed: a second language acquirer should pay much attention to the reading skill. If he or she masters this kind of ability, he or she would make greater progress in learning foreign language and gain greater development in academic fields. Therefore, how to improve leaners’ English reading ability became a popular research question. In this
thesis, the author will choose one of the influential aspects of reading ability to find the effective teaching method to help the learners to improve their reading ability. As we all know, affect is one of the most important influential factors of reading ability, which influence reading proficiency to a large extent. As one of the necessary affective variables, anxiety should deserve more attention. In the past years, some language researchers and educators were attracted to learning anxiety, and most of them published a lot of papers or books on anxiety. However, the range of early research was too wide which made the researchers pay little attention to the foreign language learning. Until 1986, Horwitz and Cope began to study foreign language anxiety and published a book named “Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety”. In this book, they made a definition of foreign language anxiety, “a distinct complex of self-perceptions, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors related to classroom language learning arising from the uniqueness of the language learning process” (pp.365-366).

1.2 Significance of the study
Vocational College students who get in touch with English learning systematically will be affected by foreign language anxiety. Researching on the foreign language anxiety has received great achievements.
