I have formulated a tentative study approach, beginning with plan to construct a solid foundation of basic professional knowledge. In combination with my accumulated practical experience, I will place a special emphasis on case analyses and seminars conducted in the setting of a formal classroom Education, thereby acquiring advanced knowledge of Manufacturing Management and techniques.

Considering my long-term goals, I know that Chinese MM is developing, although it is still a relatively new field with many areas to be worked out. In fact, there are some theories which cannot be adapted to Chinese conditions at all, and some which can even hinder company development. By studying advanced knowledge of Manufacturing Management in the context of Chinese market conditions, I hope to establish a series of Chinese-style Manufacturing Management techniques and a practical system for international companies eager to develop in the China, or Chinese companies arranging for entry into overseas markets. Contrary to most present day studies in China, whose research in Manufacturing Management is primarily oriented toward large enterprises, my research will be focused on medium and small enterprises. My past academic research, coupled with my insider’s knowledge of Chinese Manufacturing Management have led me to speculate that the country’s future growth hinges on the healthy development of numerous small and medium corporations. Unfortunately, it is precisely those corporations which lack a Manufacturing Management mentality. On the other hand, current trends in Manufacturing Management are developing globally. Therefore, the demand for individuals who can speak multiple languages and who possess prominent competency in Manufacturing Management is increasing. Those countries which have well-develop Manufacturing Management practices are particularly interested in the Chinese market, and I look forward to the opportunity to utilize my language skills, multi-cultural experience, and advanced Manufacturing Management knowledge to accomplish these global objectives for a company that values such skills.
It is clear that the Penn State MMM program will give me the management skills, knowledge, and mindset to succeed in the manufacturing field. I will be able to gain expertise in general business management areas, as well as a firm understanding of the methods and practices in modern manufacturing facilities.
